POWER, RECOVERY and UTILITY OPERATIONS LEADER – Perdue Hill, AL 10/1/2011
The successful candidate will have leadership responsibility for the safe and environmentally compliant operation of a Kraft recovery process, multiple power boilers, and electrical power generation turbines. Incumbent provides leadership and strategic direction to the facility for capital projects through the application of the MBM framework and Guiding Principles.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead and instill a strong safety and environmental compliance culture.
- Understanding and assurance of meeting compliance with corporate and governmental policies and regulations
- Maintain effective working relationships with all facility departments and levels in the organization
- Provide strategic leadership to achieve key operation objectives in safety, environmental compliance, reliability, production and cost.
- Motivate and develop a team of salaried and hourly employees to continuously improve performance and business management.
- Investigate, recommend, and implement new technologies and process upgrades.
- Responsible for the overall reliability of the area assets and using reliability concepts (i.e. root cause failure analysis, operator basic care, center lining, etc) and critical thinking skills to effectively troubleshoot and solve complex operating issues.
- Lead or participate on teams for continuous improvement efforts.
- Accountable for employee and organizational development plans and strategies in the utilities area.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Paper Science and/or other technical disciplines.
- Minimum of 8 years production supervisory experience OR any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Excellent leadership, management, interpersonal, problem solving and decision making skills
- Proven communication, planning, organization and visionary, and strategic skills.
- Proven computer skills with emphasis on Excel, functional data bases and data analysis
PREFERRED:
- Specific project experience in a Pulp and Paper Manufacturing facility.
- Minimum 5 years experience in the management of boilers and/or power areas and knowledge of the Kraft recovery process (recovery boilers, kilns, causticizing), and electrical power generation
