Kitting and staging parts sounds good but…
It is a good idea to check the aging of these staged kits on a regular basis.
It is common to see parts taken out from the store and charged an account but they have never been used. In several studies we have found significant $ value in kitted and staged parts.
Storeroom does not want them back because they take up space and add value to storeroom and stores are encouraged to decrease store value. If parts are issued but not used within three months they should be returned to stores.
Exceptions only for use during major shutdowns.
