Preventive Maintenance Software Overview
IDCON has search for a software tool for documenting condition monitoring
routes (inspection routes) and reoccurring Preventive Maintenance tasks
for our projects. Most CMMS systems don’t do a good job of organizing
tasks that are short in duration and technical in nature. A condition
monitoring route or a lubrication route often consists of:
- Many short tasks usually 15 seconds to 3 minutes in duration
- Many different equipment numbers and component types within each route.
- Measuring Points
- Look, listen, feel, smell inspections.
- Different inspection frequencies within a route (for example; a foundation
has a different inspection frequency to the mechanical seal)
- Dynamic scheduling
Preventive maintenance Software should be able to handle the basic criteria
for a condition monitoring route. This means that the software should
be able to handle:
- Multiple equipment umbers and component types within a route.
- Text instructions for how to inspect each component, ideally the text
instructions are using standard instructions for certain component
types.
- Measuring points including trending

Be able to handle several different inspection frequencies WITHIN a route.
Why build daily, weekly, monthly iterations of the same route just because
the software can’t handle scheduling.
